Chiropractic Elk Grove

One patient’s testimony after having completed a series of treatments on the DRX-9000 machine:

Her name is Linda.  Let me give you some of her medical history.  She had pain in both of her knees and severe low back pain.  In 2004 she had arthroscopic surgery on her left knee.  She had an x-ray taken, in August of 2006, at Sutter.  As a result they had told her she had multiple herniated discs.  Her low back pain progressed.  What once was concentrated pain in the low back had started to feel like a pinched nerve in her right buttock radiating down the side of her right thiegh to the front of her lower leg to her big toe, in July of 2007. 

They focused on her knee.  On November 4, 2007 she has a total knee replacement done to her right knee.  Her doctor says she still has yet to have the same thing done to her left knee.  As a part of her knee surgery, the rehabilitation and recovery consisted of her spending 8-10 hours a day laying on her back connected to a machine that automatically moved her leg and knee.  She spent all of April and all of May on her back.  The doctors told her it would take up to one year and a half to fully recooperate from her knee surgery.  When a year had passed and her right knee still hurt and so did her low back pain. 

This is the first time they spoke of possible low back surgery, placing screws in her low back to help stabalize her low back and removing the herniated discs that were the cause of the pain.  Low back pain surgery was scheduled for her for March 4, 2008.  Linda says she just couldn’t “wrap her mind around it (the thought of having another major surgery).”  She couldn’t imagine getting another surgery done, this time to her back, after having had a total knee replacement surgery and was still in just as much pain as she had before the surgery.  She figured the surgery hadn’t decreased the knee pain and didn’t want to undergo the back surgery and have the misfortune of having the same result.  She also had to think of the months/years of recooperation the back surgery would entail. 

March 4, 2008 was drawing near and she called the doctor to tell him she decided she couldn’t do the surgery.  He told her to call him when she was ready. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Hansen, had been treating Linda’s daughter at our office.  Although her daughter got regular adjustments and hadn’t been on the DRX-9000 machine, she had heard of it while being in our office.  Linda’s daughter mentioned the DRX machine to her mother and suggested she go in for a free consulation in regards to her low back pain. 

By this time she had been experiencing the “pinched nerve” pain in her right buttock, side of leg, front of lower leg to her big toe.  Linda describes the pain as a “bolt of lightning” that followed that pain pattern.  She had also tried heat, ice and perscription medication for the pain for all this time.  She was taking 3-4 Hydrodordone (Generic for Vicodeine) a day.  None of these things took the pain away.  The medication would take the edge off the pain, to a tolerable level, so that she could function. 

After 20 days of doing the DRX-9000 machine, her pain scale that started as an 8-9 out of a 10 was cut in over half!  Her back pain reduced to 2-3 out of a 10.  Treatments consisted of spending 15 minutes heating up the low back muscles with a heating pad, at our office, prior to getting onto the DRX machine.  She would spend about 28 minutes a day on the machine followed by 15 minutes icing her back muscles.  After that she would get an adjustment by Dr. Hansen. 

When asked how life is different for her now compared to before laying down on the DRX-9000, other than a reported lower pain scale of a 2-3/10, she said:

• She now can sleep.  Before she wasn’t sleeping at all.  She was constantly tossing and turning and doing a nightly ritualy of rubbing “Ben Gay” on her back and knees.
• She can now walk, stand and bend.  Her low back pain was preventing her from helping with the work around the house.  Her husband had taken up all the responsibility.  Now she has taken up her share again in sharing the household work. 
• In respect to walking, she couldn’t find joy in things that you and I take for granted.  Because she couldn’t walk she couldn’t go shopping.  She remembers going into Walmart.  The trip consisted of walking straight to the pharmacy counter to fill her perscription and back to the car.  She couldn’t wander the store and look at anything else.  She now can enjoy a day out just to look or shop for fun.
• She was in so much pain before she didn’t have any desire to do anything.  She would cut her days short and go to bed early.  She is now able to stay up late if she wants to instead of going to bed early just not to feel the pain.  She is awake a lot more hours of day as opposed to before. 
• She still has some right knee pain and is on medication for the knee.  Her knee is a lot better though.
• She knows to some degree her family was being affected by her low back pain the entire time.  She realizes it more now that it is gone than while it was present.  She remembers, before using the DRX-9000, responding more abrupt to her family’s requests, questions and comments.  She didn’t intend to snap at her family but recalls just being tired of always hurting.

Her personal request that I tell everyone:

She recommends that anyone in pain, the kind that she had, either that severe, stemming from herniated discs, or follows a similar pain pattern from the low back down the leg.  She said it is worth a try before you make the final decision to get back surgery done being that back surgery is the final deal.  She shared with me the possible results of the back surgery the doctor warns about and has you sign off on:  1)death on surgery table 2) you could bleed out on the table or 3) have an infection as a result of the low back surgery.
